The march will start in Rabin square in Tel Aviv on Saturday 29.7.06 at 18:30 and will reach Maxim square in Ben Zion Ave.

About the demonstration (29 july 2006)

It was a demonstration against the war the 29 july in Tel Aviv, called by a lot of israelian feminists and women organisations under the banner Women against the War. It was between 2000 and 3000 peoples at the demonstration, mostly activists of feminists organisations but also a lot of anarchists from Anarchists against the Wall, and people who are just against the war.
Few shoutings in english 1,2,3,4 we don t want your fucking war and an other, easy to understand, Yes to peace, no to war. Some banners : Stop kill civilians (this was the banner of the anarchists), Haifa and Beyrouth want to live again, Women against war, Stop bombing, Feminists want talking not bombs...
No problems with the cops, but some people in the street were angry against us and made some provocations.
This is just a short repport, but i think it's important to know that in Israel also people are fighting against the war and the bombing.

Saturday 5 august, it was again a demonstration against the war in Tel Aviv. According to the Communist Party we were 10.000, and 5.000 according the israelian press. The biggerst bloc was the block of the Communist Party with a lot of red flags, people came to the demonstration from Jerusalem, Haifa, Nazareth and other towns. The shouting were 'yes to peace, no to occupation', 'Israel/Palestine : two states for two peoples', 'Isrelian army out of Palestine amd Lebanon', 'Childrem from Beyrouth and Haifa want to live', '1,2,3,4 we don't want your fucking war, 5,6,7,8 US out of Middle-East', 'we don't want to kill, we don't want to be killed for the interest of the USA' and 'Jews and arabs we refuse to be ennemy' (this slogan shout by thousand peoples, arabs and jews together, means really a lot in this country).
After the Communist Party, the biggerst block was the block of the left without party, peace organisations and feminists, with there also some red flags, and after the anarchists, especially the group 'Anarchists Against the Wall'.
There were just very few flags (5 maybe) of the arab nationalist party, whose main work in arab streets and villages in Israel is to make anti-communist propaganda tell me a comrade from the ICP.

Israelis against the war

The Isreali peace campaign, Gush Shalom report the biggest anti-war march of the present war on 5 August, in Tel Aviv, Israel. 10,000 marched in spite of difficulties in movement around Israel and the war hysteria with physical attacks on the marchers. Proportionate to population this is equivalent to a demonstration of 100,000 in the UK.

During the march, the demonstrators shouted (in Hebrew): “Jews and Arabs / refuse to be enemies!” , “We shall not die nor kill / in the service of the USA!”, “Children want to live / in Beirut and Haifa!”, “Peretz, Peretz resign / peace is more important!”, “A million refugees / that’s a war crime!”, “Olmert, Peretz and Ramon / Get out of Lebanon!” The two most popular stickers were Gush Shalom’s “Bring the Soldiers Home” and the Israeli-Palestinian Bereaved Families’ Forum’s “It will not End Until we Talk!”
